What 2020 taught us about ourselves, life, work – a year in review
The past year has been full of ups and downs. At the beginning of the past year, we all wanted a new start, a fresh decade to make our own. But 2020 had different plans for us all.
Covid-19 and all the quarantines taught us how important it is that we find happiness in simple things. Drinking morning coffee and observing the surroundings, watching your favorite series, playing board games with your family, or just a few moments to yourself. These are all things that make us happy and give us meaning in life. We didn't think about these in 2019 or even before but in 2020 they became our moments of true happiness.
As we spend most of the previous year at home, tourism has also declined. Countries soon banned travel. Despite all, I and probably others have found some new hidden corners near our homes. We also started exploring the countries that we live in and found out that it can offer us a lot.
This year has made us think a lot about our health and how important it is that you are healthy. It has certainly become one of our top priorities. With vitamin capsules and zoom workouts, daily walks we all wanted to boost our immunity and fight this virus. 2020 was also a year of self-love. Loving ourselves despite changes that were happening to us daily was key to surviving the past year. The pandemic was also harming us mentally. However if it was because of pressures at school, work, at home, or because you hadn't seen someone for a long time.
Because changes were happening fast we soon realized that we can't take anything for granted. We for sure learned to have patience and not get frustrated as well, right. This brings us to the point where we have no other choice but to llive every day to the fullest. This was tricky since we couldn't leave our houses but we learned how to. We pamper ourselves with face masks and scrubes, we binge-watched a lot of series...
In the end, I just want to say, always expact the unexpected. This is a translation of 2020. From bush fired, earthquakes, and much more we still survived. We don't know what 2021 holds for us, but we are entering this year with good thoughts.
Even though 2020 is certainly a year that not a lot of people want to remember, it can also be taken as a useful experience and a journey for a better tomorrow. It can help us enter similar situations in the future better prepared.
Love, Maša
